Is it really still football season?

I almost feel like I'm in the twilight zone. . .it's November and I along with so many other Jayhawks are excited about football. Usually by now we've resigned to another mediocre season and started trading thoughts about our quest for yet another NCAA basketball title. But, not this year. I actually didn't know that KU played its first basketball game last week until Trina called me to ask if I was able to see the game. Instead, I've been so incredibly excited about football, a sport that I honestly still do not understand (too many rules, and why are there so many positions and what do they do?). So excited in fact that at halftime of the KU vs. Texas A&M game I called my parents with news that I really wanted to go to a football game (yes, I said a football game) and found a cheap flight into KC the weekend before Thanksgiving. The next thing I knew, by the end of the game I had booked a flight, and two days later my brother got me tickets to go to the KU vs. ISU game with my family and Trina. Psychotic and crazy? Yes, but I am completely stoked about this game!!!! Raoul will be in Cal. that weekend for a psych conference and we won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving because I have to work, so this worked out great. I'll only be in town for a day, so I won't be able to make the rounds, but I'm hoping to catch a meal with my sister (who has to work that weekend) and spend some time with my parents, brother, and Trina.

In other news, Raoul and I are heading to Seattle next weekend to see Matt and Emily one more time before the weather prevents us from crossing the mountain pass. I'm still working through the class I'm taking this semester. I've made it through the sixth Harry Potter book and am ready to start the seventh. Looking forward to ski season with a trip to Canada in the works in Feb. We'll be spending Thanksgiving with our pastor's family since I'll have to work that weekend, but will be able to spend a couple of days with each of our families at Christmas. Still looking for that camera cord so I can post pictures.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!
